WASHINGTON — The Associated Builders and Contractors has voiced its support for the Job Training Improvement Act of 2005.

“The Job Training Improvement Act of 2005 is critical legislation that will help the U.S. construction industry to reach and train a new generation of craft professionals,” said Kirk Pickerel, ABC president and CEO. “ABC thanks the House Subcommittee of 21st Century Competitiveness and its chairman, Buck McKean (R-Calif.) for providing leadership in marking up this vital piece of legislation today, and encourages congressional passage of the bill.”

According to the association, the bill emphasizes streamlining services, and empowers individuals while providing a role for local work-force investment boards and the private sector.

“ABC is also pleased that in this bill states and localities are given flexibility in their approaches to work-force training,” said Pickerel.
