Tradesman Manufacturing of Calgary, Alberta, was the first purchaser of a new, patent-pending spiral-elbow duct machine made by Korean firm Jinwoong Technology Ltd.

The Canadian company purchased the machine in June from Standard Sheet Metal Machinery of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The machine continuously produces spiral elbows from coil at speeds up to 18 seconds per piece. The elbows’ center-line radius can be modified through the machine’s touch-screen controls. Straight duct portions of 2 inches and longer can be made on the elbows’ ends, company officials say.

The machine was to be installed at Tradesman’s factory in August or September.
