The Mechanical Service Contractors of America named W.E. Bowers Inc. in Beltsville, Md., as its Shooting Star for 2009.

The award is given to an MSCA Star contractor who has used the group’s standards to promote business success. MSCA Star contractors are required to complete a program in order to be designated as MSCA Star Qualified.

“W.E. Bowers is an exemplary member of our industry,” said MSCA board of managers Chairman Jeff McCoy. “The Shooting Star Award recognizes the company’s excellent efforts toward demonstrating that every employee understands MSCA Star criteria and works to utilize the company’s Star designation in every aspect of business operation.”

McCoy went on to explain how W.E. Bowers exemplifies all the best qualities of an MSCA Star and how they have put their Star designation into every facet of their service operation. He commended the company on putting MSCA Star to work for them in a visible and positive way.

W.E. Bowers has been an MSCA member since 1996. The company received the MSCA Star qualification in 2004, the first year the program was available. The company was also the first in the nation to earn MSCA GreenStar status, receiving the distinction last year, for successfully demonstrating commitment to environmental stewardship throughout the entire organization.

W.E. Bowers has been a member of the U.S. Green Building Council since 2007 and they are currently involved in several Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design projects.
