Starting Jan. 1, GAMA and ARI members will have to learn a new acronym: AHRI. The two groups are merging.

The Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association voted 131-7 Dec. 14 to join with the Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Institute and create the Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute.

ARI members approved the merger 117-7 Monday.

The 370-member group, which will represent makers of appliances, water heaters, commercial food service, refrigeration and HVAC equipment, will be based in Arlington, Va.
